World day of Italian cinema

To give worldwide visibility to the works of the new authors and celebrate the

great masters of our cinema: this is the aim of the World Day of Italian Cinema which was celebrated for the first time on Saturday 20 June 2020 in cooperation with Cultural Institutes and Italian embassies.

The initiative, born from the adoption of resolution no. 7-000225 (Nicola Acunzo and others) unanimously approved on 11 December 2019 by Joined Commissions III (Foreign and Community Affairs) and VII (Culture, Science and Education) of the Chamber of Deputies, was held in its premier edition in digital mode, offering the vision of the five on the RaiPlay platform short films selected by the Academy of Italian Cinema-David di Awards Donatello, visible all over the world with subtitles in English, French and Spanish, without restrictions. An event that will be repeated every year. “Give to our young authors new opportunities through the network of embassies and of the Italian cultural institutes abroad - affirms the Hon. Nicola Acunzo, creator of the Day - is a concrete way to support our cinema.
